Supplier Development Engineer
Job Overview
About BlueHeart Energy
BlueHeart Energy was founded in 2016 as a deep-tech company that has developed a new sustainable thermoacoustics technology to radically improve the performance of heat pumps, enabling them to evolve from being the best solution in the market to becoming the perfect solution. Our technology is a disruptive approach to generate heat and cold, with potential to revolutionize the whole industry.
With our so called 'Blue Heart' inside, heat pumps turn into affordable, silent and flexible devices, capable of working with wide temperature ranges suitable for both new and existing houses. Importantly, BlueHeart doesn’t require any refrigerants and doesn’t generate any CO2e emissions.
About the Role
As Supplier Development Engineer, you will be the technical bridge between our engineering team and suppliers for critical components such as heat exchangers and drivers. These parts are central to our thermoacoustic system and require precision manufacturing, robust qualification, and industrialization readiness.
You will own supplier development activities from early engagement through qualification and ramp-up, ensuring manufacturability, cost competitiveness, and quality compliance. This is a hands-on, high-impact role in a fast-growing startup environment.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and qualify suppliers for heat exchangers (copper/stainless steel brazed assemblies) and drivers (electromechanical actuators).
- Assess manufacturing processes (welding, brazing, machining, coil winding, assembly) and provide DfM feedback to design engineers.
- Lead industrialization readiness: PPAP, FAI, process capability studies, and control plans.
- Manage tooling and CapEx for critical components, including RFQs, supplier selection, and acceptance.
- Perform cost breakdown analysis and fact-based negotiations (secondary to technical validation).
- Conduct supplier audits for process capability, quality systems, and compliance (ISO, PED, REACH, RoHS).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless transition from prototype to series production.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance and scalability.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years experience in supplier development, industrialization, or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong knowledge of heat exchanger manufacturing (brazing, welding, leak testing) and electromechanical driver assembly (coil winding, precision machining).
- Familiarity with DfM principles, tolerance analysis, and material selection (copper, stainless steel, P355 steel).
- Experience with NPI readiness and qualification processes (PPAP, FAI).
- Hands-on approach to supplier audits and process validation.
- Startup mentality: ownership, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving.
- Bonus: Experience in clean tech, HVAC, or high-tech manufacturing.
What We Offer
- Salary €4.5000 – €5.500 per month
- 25 vacation days
- Hybrid work arrangement
- Training opportunities to support in your personal and professional development with access to extensive training opportunities at your request
- Access to OpenUp because we believe in prioritizing your mental health
- Company shares (phantom shares)
- Participate in our pension scheme with employer contribution
- Contribute to a greener world and be at the forefront of a growing scale-up with big impact! Learn more about our mission here
