The Continuous Improvement Officer is responsible for driving operational excellence and employee development within the production environment. This role combines hands-on Continuous Improvement initiatives with structured training to enhance employee safety, product quality and production efficiency.
The successful candidate will manage the creation and maintenance of essential manufacturing documentation, oversee all production training, facilitate feedback between QA / Production teams, optimize workstation layouts / processes through Time Studies to align Takt Times and implement a 5S housekeeping program.
Requirements
Training Program Management:
· Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for new production / test team personnel to ensure an effective onboarding process.
· Co-ordinate and deliver regular retraining sessions for all relevant personnel to refresh skills, communicate process changes, and ensure ongoing compliance with UL construction standards.
· Manage and maintain the production training matrix, tracking employee progression to identify and close skill gap.
Documentation and Work Instructions:
· Create / manage a central library of standardized Standard Operating Procedures for all production tasks.
· Collaborate with peers to ensure documentation is accurate to developing production methods.
Continuous Improvement:
· Facilitate Lean Initiatives to drive incremental improvements throughout the production / test process.
· Conduct workstation time studies and workflow analysis to identify and eliminate waste, reduce cycle times and increase productivity.
· Design and implement optimized workstation layouts using principles like 5S to improve ergonomics, efficiency and material flow.
· Implement and operate an Employee Suggestion Program to encourage process improvement ideas.
· Collect and report Key Performance Indicators on improvement initiatives and project status.
Quality Assurance & Feedback:
· Serve as the primary liaison between the Quality Assurance (QA) team and production staff.
· Facilitate continuous feedback between Production & QA to ensure all learnings are recorded and implemented, daily, to allow for continuous process refinement.
· Participate in RCA for non-conformance issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
· Update production efficiency, quality and safety KPIs, present trends to management / frontline teams.
· Perform routine audits to ensure adherence to standardized work instructions and 5S standards.
What You’ll Need:
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
· Proven experience in a continuous improvement, training, or quality assurance role in a similar environment.
· Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles e.g. 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to all levels of the organization.
· Proficient in creating training materials and delivering effective training sessions to all personnel.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
