Job Overview

Position Summary

As Director of Security, in our secure, private facility, you will oversee the company’s overall security, developing and implementing strategies and policies to protect our employees, assets, and information, managing security and administrative personnel and budgets. You will be responsible for developing security programs, responding to incidents, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing relationships with stakeholders, law enforcement, and vendors.

Essential Functions

  • Create and implement security policies, procedures, and strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, and assets.
  • Coordinate day-to-day loss and damage prevention and other security risk related programs.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks, develop contingency plans, and lead incident response and emergency management efforts.
  • Analyze loss control and accident reports.
  • Conduct internal investigations in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Develop and implement security awareness programs, travel security assistance, and security risk assessment and planning in the areas of crisis management.
  • Supervise and manage the security team, including hiring and training, and manage the department’s budget and vendor relationships.
  • Direct the activities of access control employees and Office Manager.
  • Research and deploy security technologies like surveillance systems, access control, and incident management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain all required security manuals.
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, private sector security professionals, and other critical partners.
  • Coordinate activities with local police and emergency agencies as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a field like criminal justice, security management or occupational health and safety.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within security or risk management, with 10 years in the field.
  • Familiarity with security equipment and software, such as CCTV and access control systems
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles, frameworks, emergency management, and relevant complaint regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Certified Security Manager (CSM).
  • First Aid/CPR/AED skills are a plus.
  • Able to lift to 30 pounds, stand or walk for long periods, and handle the physical demands of the job
