Lavender is seeking a Director, Finance and Accounting to lead and scale our financial operations, ensuring the company’s fiscal health, operational efficiency, and compliance in a complex, multi-state healthcare environment.
Reporting to the Co-founder (Operations), this role is both strategic and hands-on. The Director will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, and revenue cycle management (RCM), ensuring that every dollar earned is accurately captured, billed, collected, and reported. This position will play a key role in shaping financial systems and processes, driving clarity and accountability across the organization, and partnering with leadership to guide sustainable growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
Revenue Cycle Management
- Provide strategic oversight of end-to-end revenue cycle operations, including billing systems, workflows, and payor relationships.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize reimbursement, ensure compliance, and align revenue processes with financial reporting.
- Define, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (e.g., days in AR, collection rates, denial trends) to ensure revenue integrity.
- Lead development of dashboards and analytics to support data-informed decision-making.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and state regulations, preventing revenue leakage.
- Partner with Product and Technology teams to align systems, data flow, and reporting with financial, compliance, and efficiency needs.
Finance & Accounting Leadership
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial plans that support company goals and growth strategies.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Maintain financial controls and manage compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and audit processes.
- Oversee accounts payable, inter-company transfers, and banking functions; manage relationships with financial institutions.
- Support founders with banking setup, debt instruments, and collaboration with external legal teams on corporate structure or entity changes.
- Lead tax planning, filing, and payments at federal, state, and local levels to minimize tax burdens.
- Collaborate with department leaders to monitor budgets, identify variances, and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Support long-term financial planning, strategic initiatives, and corporate entity compliance.
- Maintain and document all financial and accounting policies and procedures.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and mentor the Finance and RCM teams, fostering clear expectations, accountability, and professional growth.
- Build strong, collaborative processes with Growth, Client Support Operations, and Product and Tech teams to ensure alignment on revenue forecasting, data accuracy, and reporting.
- Promote a culture of transparency, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
- Provide training and guidance on financial and revenue procedures across the organization.
- Identify and implement technology and process improvements that enhance scalability, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Evaluate and support new revenue opportunities and service models in collaboration with leadership.
What You Bring
- Degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven leadership experience in revenue cycle management (RCM) and financial operations, ideally within healthcare or telehealth.
- Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, accounts receivable/payable, and forecasting across multi-entity or multi-state operations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. accounting principles, financial planning, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of professional fee billing, reimbursement, and third-party payer regulations.
- Demonstrated success in defining and optimizing financial workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
- Proven ability to analyze revenue performance and recommend pricing or reimbursement strategies by geography.
- Experience developing and executing financial strategies that enhance operational effectiveness and revenue growth.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to healthcare operations and their financial implications.
- A strategic mindset with strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
