The Opportunity
Macquarie Technology Group is looking for a Financial Accountant (Fixed Assets) to join our Finance team for a 12-month contract. This role is perfect for someone who combines analytical rigour with clear communication, and who gets genuine satisfaction from maintaining a gold-standard Fixed Asset register.
In this role, you will own the capitalisation process, support project teams with insights and technical advice, and partner with Finance leaders across the business to ensure accurate, timely and meaningful reporting.

About the Role
- Your days will orbit around capital expenditure clarity. You will:
- • Track monthly project spend and provide insight into variances and trends
- • Guide Business Units on what can and cannot be capitalised
- • Run depreciation processes and support month-end close
- • Partner with Commercial and Project Managers to review results
- • Oversee capitalisation uploads and ensure correct project coding in D365
- • Complete WIP reviews, asset disposals and useful life reassessments
- • Deliver monthly reconciliations, audit support and asset movement schedules
- • Support CAPEX budgeting and forecasting
- • Contribute to continuous improvement of fixed asset processes and systems
About you
- You bring a foundation in finance, backed by experience in fixed asset accounting, exposure to CAPEX reporting, and a love of detail. You’re comfortable working across stakeholders, explaining accounting concepts to non-finance colleagues, and maintaining timelines with calm precision.
- Degree in Accounting/Finance; CA/CPA desirable
- Experience managing fixed assets, reconciliations and capitalisation
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Advanced Excel; D365 or Power BI experience a bonus
- Proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
