Position Overview
As we continue to expand our operations in Costa Rica, we are looking for a Senior HR
Generalist to join our dynamic team and play a key role in our global strategy and its local
implementation.
In this generalist role, you’ll primarily focus on execution and implementation of HR strategies
and programs in partnership with business leaders and HR COEs to support company goals.
Reporting to the HR Business Partner Manager, you will be involved in supporting several HR
activities including employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, total rewards, HR compliance and administration.
You will initially work under Maxima Consulting and transition to Ulteig in 2026.
What You'll Do
Build relationships with business leaders to offer thought leadership on organizational
and people-related strategies and execution. Collaborate and support Costa Rica targets
provided by Costa Rica Site Lead.
Act as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers, addressing
concerns, resolving conflicts and answering questions on policies, benefits, etc.
Collaborate with other HR partners on the execution/deployment of strategies for Total
Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, Talent Development, and
Performance Management.
Manage benefits administration, including CCSS (social security), INS (workers’ compensation insurance), and supplementary health.
Advise leaders (at times in partnership with legal experts) on employee relations,
performance management, and compliance issues; takes lead on issues related to the
Ministry of Labor.
Stay current with Costa Rica’s labor laws and employment regulations to ensure HR
practices remain compliant and support operational integrity; participate in compliance-
related activities including HR audits.
Draft, review, and update internal HR policies, employee handbooks, and contracts in
alignment with Costa Rican regulations
Manage offboarding processes, including resignations, terminations, clearance, and final settlements (liquidación), in accordance with Costa Rican labor law
Ensure that HR processes are scalable and adaptable to different cultural contexts; focus on continuous improvement of processes that leverage technology where applicable, in partnership, and with collaboration and inputs from across other leaders in Costa Rica and Ulteig.
Support the local change management strategy for the transition to Ulteig. Support leaders and employees through the transition, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with company values.
Recommend and at times facilitate localized development programs or training to build capabilities and support career growth.
Provide support to local people leaders to enhance their leadership effectiveness.
Actively participate in forecasting people requirements to support the business’ strategic
objectives; leverage talent data insights to make recommendations around actions that
drive employee engagement and retention.
Purposefully help build an inclusive culture of excellence where everyone is able and
empowered to be themselves and contribute their best.
Participate in and influence action planning on engagement activities. Work with managers to enhance the overall team and department engagement.
Promote communication across the business/function to ensure key messages foster employee engagement and ensure Ulteig is a great workplace.
Provide backup support as needed for new hire onboarding, orientation, visa management, payroll, and accounting.
Other duties as assigned.
What We Expect from You
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or related field, with a global perspective on HR practices.
A minimum of 7 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years of HR generalist or HR Business Partner experience, preferably in the engineering or technology sectors.
Experience in a global consulting firm or multinational corporation, with a proven track record of scaling HR processes through period of high growth.
Extensive knowledge of Costa Rican labor laws and familiarity with international labor standards required.
Broad understanding of Latin American labor laws preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English; ability to effectively create and tailor written communications to inform, persuade, influence, or recognize employees and leaders at all levels in the organization.
Business partnering skills and business acumen.
