Why this role matters

We’re building Mistral’s first dedicated research function to uncover how users *truly* interact with our products—Le Chat, AI Studio, and Mistral Vibe—for the next decade. At Mistral, we move fast and iterate faster. We’re not just designing tools; we’re redefining how people collaborate with AI. If you’re a researcher at heart—obsessed with speed, autonomy, and turning insights into action—let’s talk.

About Mistral’s Products

Our suite of AI-powered tools is transforming workflows:
Le Chat: The conversational interface for seamless human-AI interaction.
AI Studio: The platform for building and deploying AI agents.
Mistral Vibe: The coding companion that turns ideas into code.

We’re here to decode how users engage with these tools, identify friction points, and uncover opportunities to make them indispensable—especially in enterprise contexts.

What You’ll Do

Define the research function: Establish processes for user interviews, persona development, and usability testing at speed.
Uncover insights: Conduct interviews and analyze data to reveal *why* users behave the way they do.
Shape strategy: Translate research into clear, actionable recommendations for product and design teams.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Science, and Solutions to align research with business goals.
Test and iterate: Evaluate new designs and features through rapid user testing, ensuring they meet real needs.

You’re a Great Fit If…

✔ You have 8+ years of experience in user research, with a portfolio showcasing personas, interview insights, and strategic recommendations.
✔ You’re a strong, efficient communicator who excels at presenting insights to stakeholders.
✔ You have previous UI/UX design experience to help translate insights to product
✔ You go beyond finding insights by proactively sharing, communicating, and make implementation happen
✔ You’re fluent in qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., interviews, surveys, persona mapping, UX journeys, usability testing, etc).
✔ You move fast and thrive in iterative environments.
✔ You’re autonomous, self-motivated, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
✔ You have strong French proficiency (written and spoken).
✔ You’re passionate about enterprise and AI and have experience in these domains.
✔ Bonus: Experience with AI tools, developer workflows, or enterprise software.

Why Mistral?

Define research as a core part of our design process: Help establish how research drives decision-making and shapes product strategy from day one.
Designing for good: Your work will shape how the world interacts with AI, focusing on positive outcomes.
Zero-to-one impact: Shape how we understand users and drive product strategy from scratch.
Builder energy: Focus on solving real problems, not bureaucracy.

Location, Remote & Reporting

Location: Based in Paris, with flexibility for remote work and a biweekly or monthly cadence to Paris for in-person collaboration.
Reporting: You’ll report directly to the Head of Design and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Science, and Solutions teams to ensure research insights drive impact.
