About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Writer to take ownership of Moodle’s product documentation and public knowledge base.
This is a new role, reporting into the Sales Documentation Lead, focused on transforming documentation into a user-centred enablement asset that drives product adoption, customer success, and sales effectiveness.
You’ll turn complex product and technical information into clear, outcome-driven content that helps customers, partners, and internal teams understand and use Moodle products with confidence.
You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Developers, UX Designers, and Support teams to ensure every piece of content is accurate, accessible, and easy to navigate — while helping to define the structure, standards, and workflows that make Moodle’s documentation consistent, scalable, and discoverable across audiences.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, write, and maintain clear, accurate product documentation — user guides, FAQs, release notes, and admin manuals.
- Translate technical concepts into simple, accessible content for global audiences.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to stay aligned with releases and ensure accuracy.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Moodle’s public knowledge base (structure, taxonomy, metadata, and search).
- Create and maintain style guides, templates, and content standards for consistency across teams.
- Use analytics and feedback to refine and improve documentation quality and discoverability.
- Work with Sales Enablement and Support to identify common questions and address key knowledge gaps.
Requirements
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer documenting software products or platforms — ideally in a cloud, enterprise, or open-source technology environment.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical details into clear, actionable documentation.
- Experience collaborating on or improving public knowledge bases (structure, taxonomy, or search optimisation).
- Familiarity with docs-as-code workflows (Markdown, Git, CI/CD) or similar tools.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across Product, Engineering, UX, and Support.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistency in writing style and tone.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of Moodle or other LMS platforms
- Experience with accessibility or localisation standards.
- Exposure to AI-driven search, in-product help, or chatbots.
