What you'll do

• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Assembles and fits to drawing dimensions all kinds of structural, plate, and mechanical materials into various types of assemblies. Must be proficient in the full skills of the trade. Receives instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders. Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting the operation.

Essential Job Functions:

• Layout, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as frames, bridge parts, beams and columns.
• Read and understand fabrication drawings
• Use dimensions and fitter skills to layout and fit detail parts accordingly.
• Verify the accuracy of fit-up prior to sending to inspection
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 12 months of training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to read shop drawings
• Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Experience in overhead crane operation is helpful.
• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
