About the role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for source selection and procurement functions related to the detailing, fabrication, and field operations for various Patriot Erectors locations, including DFW, Central Texas, Houston, and Trinity, Texas
What you'll do
Critical Duties:
▪ Serve as a Team Lead and Mentor to the department
▪ Secure and analyze supplier quotes.
▪ Generate purchase orders for raw steel materials, fasteners and pre-fabricated products from suppliers
▪ Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
▪ Organize and implement purchasing strategies with direction from the Purchasing Manager.
▪ Study market prices and trends.
▪ Responsible for all inbound shipments of raw materials and the accuracy of the purchase order according to job specs and ASTM standards provided, assuring the quality/quantity received is acceptable and meets customer/contract requirements. Includes checking P.O. with MTR to verify and authorize received material for payment
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):
▪ Closely coordinate with Fabrication/Field Operations and Project Management to ensure timely execution of product sourcing activities.
▪ Research and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery(schedule) competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
▪ Coordinate the inventory control parameters for the assigned products.
▪ Assist in the resolution of product quality and delivery problems.
▪ Ensure buyouts, materials are received timely.
- Monitor and measure the quality and reliability of materials vendors.
- Verify that materials meet proper specifications and originate from approved sources.
- Consider inventory levels before making purchases.
- Receive and check delivery tickets from shop management; prepare them for posting.
- Obtain approval for major material purchases.
- Enter and reconcile fabrication inventory.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
▪ Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
▪ 5 years plus experience in a steel manufacturing environment.
▪ 2 years of purchasing and material control experience in a steel manufacturing environment.

Education/Experience:
▪ Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
▪ 5 years plus experience in a steel manufacturing environment.
▪ 2 years of purchasing and material control experience in a steel manufacturing environment.
