About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Safety Director to lead and oversee all safety-related initiatives in our Central Shop department. As a key leader in our Safety Indirect team, you will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety and compliance while ensuring the highest standards of workplace safety practices. This full-time, salaried position requires strategic vision, leadership, and deep expertise in safety protocols to drive success in this vital area of our organization.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the Central Shop.
- Lead accident investigations, ensure timely reporting, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to team members to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Collaborate with leadership, operations, and other departments to integrate safety initiatives into operational procedures.
- Prepare and present safety reports, statistics, and recommendations to upper management.
- Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and recommend best practices.
- Manage and coordinate Safety Indirect department projects and initiatives to improve overall safety performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a safety leadership role, preferably within industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Proven ability to lead and influence teams while fostering a strong culture of safety and accountability.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills to address safety challenges effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience in leading investigations, preparing detailed reports, and implementing corrective actions.
- Proficiency in safety assessment tools, reporting software, and related technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred;
- Certifications as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is preferred.
