About the role
- Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight
- Enforce and monitor all Company safety policies, including fall protection, hazard mitigation, and PPE compliance.
- Ensure Site Supervisors and craft workers are trained, certified, and implementing safety procedures.
- Conduct site visits to assess and mitigate risks; oversee Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task planning.
- Issue citations for safety violations and coordinate corrective action.
- Verify implementation of Project-Specific Safety Plans and Critical Lift procedures.
Quality Assurance / Control
- Ensure welders are properly certified and following WPS procedures; oversee bolting, surveying, and installation accuracy.
- Maintain strict adherence to tolerances, project specifications, and company QA policies.
- Track non-conforming items and ensure proper documentation and approval for any deviations.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and reporting with Owner’s representatives.
Production Management
- Monitor production rates, manpower requirements, and equipment usage to meet project milestones.
- Track project costs, material usage, and schedule progress; report deviations to Project Managers.
- Ensure adequate site conditions, material deliveries, and equipment availability for safe and efficient operations.
General Leadership
- Attend company and contractor meetings; coordinate monthly billing and time/material tracking.
- Mentor and guide Site Supervisors and craft teams, promoting professional development and alignment with company standards.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, field teams, and executive leadership.
Required Training & Qualifications
Candidates must possess and provide confirmation of current certifications:
- CPR / First Aid
- OSHA 30-hour (including Subpart R)
- Forklift, Scissor Lift, and Boom Lift operation
- Scaffold Erection Certification
- JIW Certificate (or equivalent)
Additional requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in safe and compliant erection of structural and miscellaneous steel.
- Conversant in AWS, AISC, RCSC, ANSI, and OSHA manuals.
- Strong proficiency in industry communication, project documentation, and leadership.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required updates or re-certifications for all training as necessary.

- Reports to: Operations Manager or Company Executives
- Co-worker relationships: Safety Director, QA/QC Manager, Project Manager, Equipment Manager
