The Medical-Legal Documentation Specialist provides high-quality administrative and clinical documentation support to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant workers’ compensation reports. This role combines medical scribing, case documentation, and legal understanding to support physicians and case managers working with injured or behaviorally affected employees.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately document patient encounters, assessments, and treatment plans based on the provider’s dictation or notes.
  • Prepare and format Workers’ Compensation reports, including medical narratives, follow-up summaries, and return-to-work documentation.
  • Ensure that all reports comply with medical, legal, and insurance requirements.
  • Review provider notes for completeness, consistency, and proper coding language.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and state-specific workers’ compensation documentation standards.
  • Coordinate with providers, case managers, and legal teams to clarify or update report details when necessary.
  • Manage timelines and ensure timely submission of all reports and forms.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Medical Scribe, Medical Assistant, or Documentation Specialist.
  • Background in Workers’ Compensation or medical-legal documentation (US healthcare setting).
  • Experience with behavioral health documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical workflows, and documentation standards.
  • Excellent written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
