GAIN Experience - Senior Experience Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to guide and grow our engineering team while remaining hands-on with our core tech stack: AWS Serverless, Node.js, and TypeScript. This role requires strong technical leadership combined with a product-centric mindset. You’ll not only write and review code but also help shape the design and architecture of the systems powering our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, driving technical delivery, mentoring, and team performance.
• Stay hands-on: write, review, and optimise clean, maintainable code in Node.js/TypeScript.
• Design scalable serverless solutions on AWS using services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, etc.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to shape features from idea to implementation.
• Make architectural decisions and help define best practices for infrastructure and software development.
• Support DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation / CDK).
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to a high-quality engineering culture.
• Drive a performance and outcome-oriented mindset across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

• Ideally, 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with some leadership experience.
• Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS, particularly with Serverless architectures (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, etc.).
• Although this isn’t a Technical Architect role, some involvement in designing systems and solutions is key, not just in implementing them.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing, and CI/CD best practices.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
• Fluent English speaking

Nice to Have (Bonus Points)

• Experience with container technologies like Docker and orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS).
• Experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
• Background in full-stack development, especially front-end frameworks (React, etc.).
