Technical Expertise & Strategy
- Expert Knowledge: Work to gain expert knowledge of product technical aspects, including architecture, system infrastructure, and software development practices.
- Technical Roadmap: Interface with Product Managers and Engineering Leaders to balance business delivery priorities with technical health, driving the execution of the technical roadmap.
- Process Improvement: Analyze existing workflows and propose improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness across the plan and build phases of work delivery.
Collaboration & Alignment
- Product Manager Partnership: Collaborate with Product Manager(s) to translate their strategic Product vision (Narrative, Scope, Initiative) into measurable outcome-based epics .
- Scope Advising: Advise the Product Manager on scope trade-offs during initiative or improvement development based on team capacity and technical feasibility.
- Delivery Visibility: Stay deeply informed on development status and execution detail, empowering the Product Manager with line-of-sight on delivery targets.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Take the lead to manage cross-team coordination and dependencies, proactively identifying and remediating misalignments to free Engineering Leaders and boost team velocity.
Work Management & Execution
- Work Synchronization: Synchronize the work (backlog) with the team's ability to execute (capacity) in partnership with Engineering Leader(s); advise Product Managers of timelines for team execution.
- Story Refinement (Technical): Collaborate with Technical Lead(s) to translate outcome based Epics into technically feasible and well-designed stories, ensuring clear acceptance criteria for engineering team execution.
- Risk & Debt Management: Coordinate with Technical Lead(s) to identify technical risks and debt, and then partner to prioritize and resolve them within the backlog.
- Priority Management: Support the Technical Lead(s) and Engineering Leader(s) in ensuring the team stays focused by managing and communicating changes in work priority.
- Agile Leadership: Lead technical aspects of Agile events, such as backlog refinement and sprint planning, to ensure the development team's work is technically sound and aligned with objectives.
Documentation & Communication
- Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for systems, delivered solutions, processes, and technical procedures.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a primary point of contact between the technical team and stakeholders, facilitating clear and informed communication about technical challenges and decisions.
