Senior Cloud & Infra Engineer (Azure/IoT)

As part of our digital-transformation agenda, we are looking for a hands-on Senior Cloud & Infra Engineer (Azure / IoT) to join the Technology & Innovation Department. You will design, build and operate Azure-centric cloud infrastructure and an Industrial/IoT ecosystem—covering cloud services, edge devices, wired/Wi-Fi/cellular networking and electronic integrations—while enabling secure, scalable and cost-efficient operations in line with industry best practices and compliance standards.

Role Overview:

You will act as the technical owner for our Azure and IoT environments, covering everything from device connectivity and data ingestion to cloud resources, networking, and storage. The role is 100 % hands‑on: you will plan, build, automate, troubleshoot, and improve systems yourself—while collaborating with peers in software, data, and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate & Optimize Infrastructure – Manage Azure and on prem/edge resources for performance, scalability, cost, and availability.
• Build Secure IoT Solutions – Design, deploy and maintain Azure IoT Hub / IoT Edge architectures, including device provisioning, telemetry pipelines and edge container workloads (AKS, Docker).
• Networking & Connectivity – Configure and support wired, Wi Fi and cellular networks; implement Azure Load Balancer / Application Gateway (WAF), DNS and Azure API Management for IoT back ends.
• Identity & Access Management – Administer Azure AD, RBAC and certificate-based device authentication, enforcing least privilege and zero trust principles.
• Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD – Develop Terraform/Bicep, Ansible and Azure DevOps pipelines to provision and update cloud and edge environments automatically.
• Security & Compliance – Implement and monitor controls aligned with ISO 27001, NIS2 and ISO 22301; perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.
• Backup, DR & Resilience – Own backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies for cloud workloads, edge devices and data stores; run scheduled fail over tests.
• Storage & Data Pipelines – Manage scalable storage and processing solutions for IoT data, optimizing retention, performance, and cost.
• Cost Management – Track cloud spend, right size resources, and recommend savings opportunities without compromising service levels.
• Continuous Improvement – Evaluate emerging technologies (edge AI, advanced sensors, new connectivity options) and drive PoCs that can enhance operational excellence.
• Troubleshooting & Support – Provide expert level diagnostics for complex hardware, connectivity or cloud issues and participate in an on-call rotation when necessary.

Requirements:

Professional Experience

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and IoT/electronics environments.
• Proven delivery of Azure IoT solutions and hybrid/edge architectures, including networking and device integration.

Academic Background & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar.
• Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure IoT Developer, Kubernetes/CKA, networking or security are advantageous.

Languages & Technical Capabilities

• Fluent in Greek and English (written and spoken).
• Expert knowledge of Azure services (Compute, Networking, Storage, Security) and Azure IoT Hub, DPS, IoT Edge.
• Solid grasp of electronics, sensors and industrial protocols (e.g., MQTT, AMQP, Modbus).
• Strong skills in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS), virtualization (VMware/Hyper V) and Windows/Linux administration.
• Proficiency with IaC and automation tools (Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, Azure DevOps) and at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• In depth understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, Wi Fi design, structured cabling and L4 L7 services (load balancers, WAF, DNS, API Management).
• Familiarity with security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIS2) and best practices for device & cloud security.
