We are looking for an HR Specialist to join VEO in Vaasa to support our managers and employees in day-to-day employment matters.

In this role, you are a practical HR professional and trusted point of contact, helping ensure that employment-related questions are handled smoothly, clearly and in a people-oriented way.

What you will do in practice

As an HR Specialist, your work is firmly grounded in everyday operations:

  • Support managers and employees in daily employment-related questions (e.g. employment contracts, changes during the employment lifecycle, absences, working time, terms and conditions)

  • Advise managers on labour law and collective agreement interpretations

  • Ensure employment matters are handled consistently, on time and in a people-focused way

  • Act as a practical contact person towards outsourced payroll services, ensuring smooth and accurate information flow

  • Participate in the implementation of HR processes (e.g. employment lifecycle) and develop them from a practical, everyday perspective

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of employee and student events

  • Contribute to a positive employee experience and well-functioning day-to-day people leadership

What we expect from you

  • A few years of experience in HR role, experience in payroll is also an advantage

  • Working knowledge of labour legislation and collective agreements and the ability to apply them in everyday situations

  • An approachable, supportive and solution-oriented mindset

  • Ability to get things done and keep an overview, even in a busy environment

  • Very good communication (written and spoken) skills in Finnish and English (Swedish is an advantage)

  • A relevant educational background (e.g. HR, business administration, or similar)
