About the Role:

As Electrical Apprentice will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our solar farms. The Electrical Apprentice will assist qualified electricians and supervisors in maintaining and operating one of the largest solar farms in New South Wales. This apprenticeship offers a hands-on learning environment across high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems, and grid connection infrastructure. The role supports the site’s mission to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable renewable energy generation while providing the apprentice with the skills and qualifications required to become a licensed electrician.

  • Roster: Monday to Friday (38 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

      • Support qualified electricians in preventive and corrective maintenance of solar farm electrical infrastructure, including inverters, transformers, HV switchgear, and protection systems.
      • Assist in routine inspections, testing, fault diagnosis, and equipment maintenance.
      • Learn and apply electrical safety procedures (e.g., isolation, lock-out/tag-out, HV access).
      • Participate in performance monitoring through SCADA systems and assist in reporting faults.
      • Maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas to ensure they remain in a safe and serviceable condition.
      • Complete all apprenticeship training requirements and logbook entries as per the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) plan.
      • Attend site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
      • Follow all Solarig Australia HSEQ policies and contribute to a safe and positive work culture.

Qualifications and Requirements
• Enrolled or eligible to enrol in Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30820).
• Current Driver’s Licence (or ability to obtain).
• Construction White Card (mandatory).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening.
• CPR/LVR and Working at Heights certificates preferred (training can be provided).
• Full working rights in Australia.

  • Proactive with a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills
  • A team player with strong communication skills and a can-do attitude
