Job Overview

Freeda offers a range of services for women and their children suffering from domestic abuse. Clients do not need residential qualifications to receive help or to stay at the safe accommodation; they are given the opportunity to talk confidentially about their situation and offered advice and guidance appropriate to their needs by qualified staff.

The domestic worker will join a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

She will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of Freeda premises is maintained, which includes the communal areas, bedrooms and bath/shower rooms as well as staff offices.  

The successful applicant will have been resident in the island for a minimum of 5 years and will be required to undergo a  DBS check.

The post holder will need to be aware of Freeda’s Confidentiality Policy, which she will be required to sign. 

Your work may vary from day to day, according to the circumstances, therefore the principal accountabilities only form an outline guide to the working routine. Some days will be busier than others, although after a number of weeks, the post holder may develop their own routine.  
 
The post holder must be female. Schedule 2, Article 4, Part 1, section 2G of the Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013 applies.

Key Responsibilities

Daily

Ensure all touch points, horizontal surfaces are cleaned and bins are emptied in communal areas
Ensure that the communal areas, i.e. corridors, bathrooms, lounge, dining room, laundry room etc. are clean and tidy and vacuum when necessary;
Clean the kitchen floor, worktops and sinks 
Deep clean of newly vacated resident rooms and bathrooms, including changing bedding; replacing towels as well as toilet rolls if needed; vacuuming and dusting
Report any faults or damage found in any area of the house to the staff member on duty.

Weekly

Clean and vacuum the staff offices
Clean staff toilet and shower 
Clean the staff office areas

Additional tasks

Wash and iron any bedding / towels / tea towels etc. when sufficient to warrant so
Clean the paintwork: doors; skirting boards; inside of windows
Sweep front door steps, fire exit and rear doorways
Periodic shampoo of carpets
Advise when cleaning materials and equipment etc needs re-ordering/replacing.
Report any maintenance issues observed

Food Hygiene Level 2  - Desirable
Infection Control Training  - Desirable
Safe Moving and Handling Training  -  Desirable
