Excavation Driver/Operator

To assist the jointing by operating excavation tools and machinery, and clearing the working area once the job has been complete.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operate excavation tools and machinery and carry out some digging by hand.
2. Drive vehicles and carry out daily maintenance of tools and minor plant and equipment.
3. Ensure the safety of excavation sites both inside and outside hours.
4. Draw material from the stores, and makes minor purchases of materials as required facilitating work.
5. Clear the working area once the job is complete and record time spent on tasks accurately.
6. Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
7. Will be required to take part in a formal standby roster.
8. Such other duties as may be allocated and interchange of duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
· Excavation Assistants will normally receive on the job training and basic safety training
· Must hold a Category C driving licence
· The post holder must have an aptitude for practical work, and needs to be able and qualified to drive or handle heavy vehicles, forklifts, cranes, and special tools
