Purpose: To assist with the leadership and management of a team of tax specialists ensuring the team is resourced by suitably qualified and experienced members who are motivated to perform and committed to effective client service and the quality of work meets the company’s ethical and professional standards and supports organisational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Takes responsibility, in conjunction with the Tax Leadership team, for the provision of tax compliance and advisory services to our clients.
- Responsible for own portfolio of complex and diverse clients. personal, company and partnership tax returns.

- Liaises with the authorities regarding tax and social security queries in a knowledgeable and informative manner and responding in an efficient and timely way.
- Responsible for the review of work prepared by more junior staff and for the coaching and ongoing development of those staff, imparting knowledge where appropriate and taking appropriate action when technical and professional expertise of team members is not at the required level.
- Participates in the performance management process for more junior members of staff, providing input where necessary.
- Monitors own and department’s WIP and ensures a positive contribution is made to departmental billings.
- Ensures the department’s KPIs are met, with assistance from the Tax Leadership Team.
- Supports the Tax Leadership Team in ensuring teams and clients are informed of any changes to tax laws/procedures.
- Understands client base and is able to build relationships to ensure client retention and growth.
- Understands the firm’s products and services and identifies opportunities to cross-sell.
- Builds an external network of professional, business and client contacts and promotes the firm at every opportunity to facilitate new business opportunities.
- Assists the Tax Leadership Team with achievement of the company’s strategic objectives by participating in sales and marketing initiatives, recruitment, growth of department, department’s technical development etc.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and has the confidence to deal with people at all levels.
- Has the ability to apply knowledge and experience and display initiative and lateral thinking coupled with the ability to solve non-routine problems and analyse data from a variety of different sources.
- Has proven client handling experience and the ability to develop and motivate a team in order to achieve a high level of client service.
- Must possess a flexible attitude and a proactive approach to work and be willing to work additional hours to meet deadlines as necessary.
- Possesses excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to solve non routine problems and analyses data from a variety of difference sources.
