Driver, Luggage Truck - Class A

When preparing for a vacation, some spend days planning and packing the perfect outfit or bringing the right essentials to make their vacation run as smoothly and as comfortably as possible. As a luggage handler, you make sure all their packed belongings arrive to their new home-away-from-home. You and the rest of the team work together to collect, load, and disperse luggage daily to ensure our guests’ belongings follow them on their Alaskan journey. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to safely drive a truck, while working in a team or group environment. 
  • Routinely drives a truck; loads, and unloads luggage, picks-up and delivers luggage at our various properties and the airport.
  • Loads and unloads luggage from trucks, vans, and motorcoaches. 
  • Organize, sort, tally, tag, and label guest luggage daily. 
  • Communicates frequently with supervisors and other team members via radio for updates, requests, or concerns. 
  • Performs basic mechanical duties.  

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum age of 21 is required. 
  • One year of experience in positions involving driving and luggage handling preferred. 
  • Current, valid driver's license, with three (3) years clean driving record is required. (A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested). 
  • Current, valid class B, CDL with airbrake endorsement, is required (may be obtained through Company training course). 
  • Must be certified as physically qualified through a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
  • Must be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds regularly, sometimes above head level. 
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check. 
  • Must meet company’s clean driver eligibility requirements. 
  • Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to all guests, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals. 
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, employees, and management.
  • Ability to lift 50 – 75 pounds regularly, sometimes above head level.
