RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accompany and manage groups of escorted tour guests through each segment of their multi-day land tour.  
  • Professionally articulate directions and information to tour members in fluent English, providing location expedites, suggestions, and recommendations for each included location as outlined on itineraries. 
  • Work closely with driver guides, rail guides, and hotel staff to ensure seamless experiences through collaboration and regular communications. 
  • Proactively mitigate potential service disruptions and handle various challenges and emergencies related to tour members and tour conditions (weather, road delays, service dissatisfaction, guest injury/illness, etc.)  
  • Respond to emails, phone calls, and text messages from guests and internal colleagues in a timely manner.  Provide daily structured hours of availability specific to guest inquiries. 
  • Review manifests, reports, special requests, and rooming assignments to compare with guests’ preferences. 
  • Accurately maintain, organize and complete all paperwork in a timely manner associated with a tour including tour reports, internal forms utilized while on tour, expense reports, etc. 
  • Represent the organization’s core values through a professional manner, appearance, attitude, and actions. 
  • Keep work areas organized, clean, and sanitized. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Work experience in hospitality-related positions may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement. 
  • Must have a current passport. Travel is required. 
  • Must be able to legally travel into Canada multiple times. 
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check. 
  • Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs./23kg.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly before large groups of people.   
  • Ability to problem-solve a variety of situations, utilizing given support and resources.     
  • Organizational skills with both groups and basic accounting functions are necessary. 
  • Ability to develop & expand knowledge of various locations, company properties, assets, and their amenities.   
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment. 
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards. 
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
