If you’d like to step away from agency work, or join a unique industry here in Guernsey, we need a creative thinker passionate about people and communications to join our in-house Communications and Marketing team as our new Communications Officer. 

We want to develop our community outreach, inject life into our corporate communications, and use innovative ways to tell our important story - including how we are planning for the future.

Your role will be key in shaping Guernsey Electricity’s narrative and engaging with both our customers and diverse workforce of over 200 employees, from engineers, to trade, to the office. 

Your communication skills, experience and personality will support our strategic direction, showcase our role in the energy transition, and enhance our customer’s experience. 

Working alongside our strategic and creative partners, you’ll help design and deliver compelling content to inform, inspire, and tell our story to different stakeholders impacting everyday lives here in Guernsey. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Communications: Lead the charge in keeping our employees informed and engaged. You'll manage internal communications across various channels, ensuring our people are always in the loop about exciting projects and initiatives.
  • External Communications: Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Team on campaign planning and execution, media relations, and liaising with our external creative agency and other strategic partners. You’ll help us effectively communicate with the public and our stakeholders, to enhance our brand reputation and to elevate our social media presence.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience in a communications role.
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamworking abilities.
  • Effective presentation design skills.
  • Event coordination skills.
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of contemporary communications trends.
  • Experience with Canva.
  • Outstanding people and communication skills.
  • An interest in sustainability and the energy transition.
  • A CIPR, CIM, or similar qualification is desirable
