Job Overview

At Carma, we’re more than just a car company, we’re on a mission to shake up the Australian automotive industry! As a digital pre-owned car dealership, we’re turning the car buying and selling experience into a hassle-free, seamless journey that customers can truly enjoy. With our diverse and collaborative team managing everything from engineering to marketing and buying to reconditioning in-house, we’re powered by the best people and we’d love for you to come along for the ride.

Have you led high performing teams, built smarter processes, and driven cost and quality improvements in a fast-moving environment? This might be the role for you! We’re looking for an Operations Manager to take charge of our Mechanical and Parts functions at Carma - but no specific automotive experience required. This role blends people leadership, continuous improvement and operational excellence to keep our production humming along and our standards sky-high.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and develop our mechanical and parts teams - from apprentices to trades and team leaders.
  • Build and embed efficient processes that cut costs, boost quality, and give the team ownership.
  • Keep labour utilisation and parts costs on track, turning data into clear results.
  • Roll up your sleeves when needed to keep things moving.
  • Champion continuous improvement - challenging the “way it’s always been done” and embedding smarter ways of working.
  • Partner with finance, procurement, and production teams to keep every Carma car moving smoothly.
  • Foster a safe, high-performing, people-first workplace.

Okay, let’s talk about you

  • You're an experienced people leader (5+ years), and comfortable managing technical team members.
  • You have a strong commercial mindset with a track record in cost management and reporting.
  • You're comfortable building and embedding new processes - not just running with existing ones.
  • You ideally have exposure to a production or operations environment (automotive a bonus, not essential!)
  • You have a continuous improvement mindset, lean, Kaizen or Six Sigma knowledge would be a plus!
  • You are comfortable being hands on when needed - but able to balance daily targets with big-picture planning.
  • You have a valid NSW drives license - you’ll be in and out of cars all day.
Please note: this is a full time position, based in our Production centre in St Peters, Sydney.
