High-Level Overview
Client is a pan-African development agency focused on strengthening financial markets and mobilising capital for development. Within this agency, the Capital Markets team houses the Policy & Regulation Unit, which works with regulators, exchanges, and ministries of finance to design and strengthen regulatory frameworks that enable capital mobilisation and deepen financial markets.
The Capital Markets team, through the Policy & Regulation Unit, is seeking two Associate-level consultants to provide the operational backbone for the unit by driving project management, process coordination, data analysis, regulatory research, and knowledge product development. Working in close collaboration with specialists, who lead on technical inputs and senior stakeholder engagement, Associates will ensure that documentation, approvals, reporting, and coordination run smoothly, enabling the successful delivery of programmes
The ideal candidates will be proactive, organised, and detail-oriented, with a grounding in financial or capital markets and an interest in regulatory frameworks. They should combine analytical ability with strong communication skills, adapt quickly to change, and work collaboratively with specialists and stakeholders to drive process and support delivery.
Role and Responsibilities

Key Deliverables:
- Programme & Project Management
- Support design of projects and programmes, draft ToRs, prepare approval documents, and track milestones.
- Ensure timely coordination of project processes, documentation, and internal approvals.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Tracking
- Collect, analyse, and update portfolio data.
- Support M&E frameworks and impact reporting.
- Conduct risk analysis and ensure lessons learned inform future strategy.
- Financial & Resource Management
- Assist in resource planning and budget development.
- Monitor expenditure and programme milestones; support financial reporting.
- Research & Knowledge Management
- Conduct market research and maintain credible data flows.
- Support knowledge management initiatives, ensuring outputs are accurate and accessible.
- Synthesize research into knowledge products (briefing notes, blogs, newsletters, op-eds).
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communications
- Liaise with internal teams, partners, regulators, and market stakeholders to strengthen collaboration.
- Contribute technical content for events, manage logistics, and track post-event outcomes.
- Support preparation of thought leadership and policy pieces
Requirements
Experience Required:
- 4–6 years in financial markets, preferably with exposure to policy, regulation, or market development.
- Proven track record in project management, research, and producing outputs for diverse audiences.
- Background with DFIs (e.g., World Bank, IFC, AfDB, BII), pension funds, securities regulators, or exchanges is highly desirable
Technical Requirements:
- Master’s degree + 4 years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree + 5 years’ experience in relevant field.
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken). French is an advantage

Working Arrangement
Location: Preference for one consultant in Nairobi; second may be based elsewhere in Africa (within ±2 hours of EAT).
Language: English
Travel: Occasional travel, up to 1–2 trips per quarter, primarily for convenings and capacity-building events
Terms of agreement:
Start Date: ASAP
Contracting Period: Full-time until March 2026 (with likelihood of extension)
Location: Preference for one consultant in Nairobi; second may be based elsewhere in Africa (within ±2 hours of EAT).
