Project Officer - Critical Minerals Support Facility Design

Fixed Term Contract

Job Overview

Allied Talent Partners (ATP), a Three Cairns Group initiative, is a mission-driven, not-for-profit talent marketplace focused on solving the human capital bottlenecks slowing down sustainable development efforts in emerging economies, with an initial focus on Africa.  ATP connects vetted, experienced, context-relevant professionals to high-impact opportunities in energy access and sustainable development – strengthening local capacity and fuelling economic vitality. We specialize in fixed-term, deliverable-driven engagements – from interim leadership and generalist projects to niche technical expertise – handling project scoping, talent vetting and matching, contracting, payroll, and compliance so that our clients can focus on impact.

High-Level Overview

Client:
The client is a philanthropic organisation dedicated to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development in Africa. They collaborate with governments (national, and sub-national), regional bodies, civil society, labour, research institutions and the private sector to implement innovative solutions that foster low-carbon development and climate resilience. Through grant making and fiscal hosting the client supports an ecosystem of actors across the continent working at the nexus of climate and development.

Project:
The client is supporting the establishment of the Green Minerals Support Facility (GMSF) to respond to growing demand among African critical mineral producer countries for targeted support in navigating the opportunities and risks of the global energy transition. The Facility will offer technical assistance (both rapid response and long-term advisory) to help governments enhance domestic value addition, improve ESG performance, foster South–South collaboration, and support investment mobilisation. The GMSF will be incubated by the client (or another partner organisation) with the goal of spinning off as a standalone institution.

To support the design phase, the client seeks a Junior Consultant / Project Officer to manage day-to-day coordination, documentation, and logistics. This role will provide critical operational support to the Project Manager, consultants, and Steering Committee, ensuring meetings are well-prepared, records are properly maintained, and project tracking systems are kept up to date.
