In-House Chef (Health Focused Workplace)

Posted March 02, 2026

Job Overview

🇦🇺 Heads up! This role is based in-person at our office in sunny Brisbane, Australia. 🇦🇺

We’re investing in building one of Brisbane’s healthiest workplaces.

Each day, our team of 50+ shares a fresh, wholefood driven lunch prepared in house. We believe food should be healthy, simple, seasonal and genuinely enjoyable. We’re looking for an experienced chef to run our kitchen as a contractor - someone who values quality ingredients, consistency and creating meals people look forward to.

This is not a restaurant role. There are no late nights, weekend shifts or split services. The role runs approximately 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within school-friendly hours.

Competitive contractor rate: $40–$55 per hour (inclusive of all contractor obligations)

Ideal start date: 30 March 2026 (we’re open to a short transition period for the right person).

The Role

You’ll take ownership of our in-house workplace kitchen, preparing daily buffet-style lunches for a growing team (currently 50+ people).

You will:

  • Design and deliver a rotating seasonal menu

  • Prepare daily lunch service with balanced protein and thoughtful vegetarian options

  • Maintain variety across the month so lunch never feels repetitive

  • Manage ordering and supplier relationships

  • Control food costs within a defined daily budget

  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards

  • Keep the kitchen organised, clean and efficient

  • Oversee pantry snacks, tea and coffee stock

We care about fresh produce, colour on the table and food that feels energising rather than heavy. We enjoy exploring different cuisines across the year and occasionally tying menus to cultural or fun food moments - without overcomplicating things.

We have a clear vision for the kind of food we value, and we’re looking for someone who can bring that vision to life in their own way.

What We’re Looking For

You’re an experienced chef who:

  • Has catered for 40–80 covers consistently

  • Understands seasonal, health-forward cooking

  • Can confidently manage food costs and portion control

  • Is organised, reliable and calm

  • Takes pride in running a tidy, efficient kitchen

  • Enjoys working independently in a stable environment

This role would particularly suit someone seeking consistent weekday hours without the demands of traditional hospitality shifts.

Experience in corporate, school or volume catering environments is highly regarded.

Kitchen & Structure

  • On-site workplace kitchen (home-style size)

  • Monday–Friday

  • Approx. 30 hours per week

  • No evenings or weekends

  • Consistent daily headcount

Contractor Arrangement

This is a contract role. You’ll invoice us directly and manage your own tax and super arrangements. Relevant insurances and food safety compliance are required.

If you haven’t worked as a contractor before but are very interested in the role, we’re open to that conversation. We’re happy to support the right person in understanding what’s required and can discuss practical steps such as arranging insurances.

Why This Role Is Different

You won’t be chasing dinner rushes or turning tables.

You’ll be fuelling a team that sits down together every day.

If you care about fresh, thoughtful food and want stable weekday hours in a supportive, well-run environment, we’d love to hear from you.
