Head Chef

Key Responsibilities

• Developing a cost-effective budget and menus for residents which contributes to a healthy and balanced diet.
• Prepare a range of meals and snacks for residents, being aware of and be able to cater for a range of diets, including residents with specific dietary requirements.
• In conjunction with the Health Care staff, ensure that food is provided to the correct consistency for residents with swallowing difficulties, ensuring that this food is appealing for the resident.
• Ensure facilities are available and for residents to be able to access drinks and snacks in between meals.
• Oversight and management of kitchen staff to include resource management, interviewing, appraisals, and staff development.
• Stock ordering, as and when required.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, hygienic, and safe working environment at all times.
• Working with the Home Manager to identify areas for improvements in terms of culinary experience for residents.
• Maintain high standards of Infection Prevention and Control.
• Participate in audits with regulators, as requested and required.
• Any other duties commensurate to level of role, as directed by the Registered Manager and/or Directors.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• City & Guilds 7061/2, or equivalent
• Food Hygiene certificate
• 2 years+ commercial experience
• Experience of catering for the dietary needs of older people
• Knowledge of menu planning
• Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation
• Good managerial skills, including:

• Good literacy and numeracy skills
