Inventory Control Specialist

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and efficient inventory levels across all distribution centers. This role owns key inventory control processes and continuously seeks opportunities to improve accuracy, reduce waste, and streamline operations. Core responsibilities include overseeing returns, managing excess and dead stock, coordinating inventory transfers, and reviewing demand forecasts.
This position is critical in improving visibility, supporting proactive purchasing decisions, and ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and consistent collaboration with sales, warehouse, and purchasing teams.
Requirements for success as part of our elite Client Services team:
● Maintain the quarterly schedule for inventory activities, including dead stock, returns, and excess reviews.
● Produce and share inventory reports to support liquidation, transfer, and purchasing decisions.
● Manage supplier returns, including RMAs, shipment tracking, and credit confirmations.
● Improve and document return processes for greater efficiency and visibility.
● Review excess inventory and partner with Inventory Planners on transfer needs.
● Validate and manage placeholder and on-hold orders to ensure proper allocation.
● Support new product buy-ins by coordinating stocking agreements and initial setup.
● Lead quarterly non-stock ABC classification updates.
● Develop and maintain guidelines for returns, stock requests, and placeholder orders.
● Coordinate scheduled and ad hoc inventory transfers with warehouse and purchasing teams.
● Maintain accurate records to support audit readiness and SOP compliance.
● Perform other duties and support special projects as needed.
