The Faculty of Creative & Culinary Arts, Animal Science, Automotive & Technology is looking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking animal science lecturer who has vision and drive to work with the existing team in the future direction of the animal science provision at Coleg Ceredigion. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of animal science education and make a real impact in a thriving academic community. 

You’ll be delivering engaging, high-quality lessons across various levels (Entry 3 to Level 6), supporting curriculum development, and mentoring learners towards their academic and professional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver inspiring lessons in animal science across multiple levels
  • Develop curriculum resources and contribute to faculty innovation
  • Take on the role of a Learning Area Programme Lead (LAP leader) for one cohort and contribute to the management of this subject area
  • Support learner progress through pastoral care and academic coaching
  • Liaise with employers, industry experts, and higher education institutions etc.
  • Promote learner placement opportunities and experiential learning
  • Maintain high standards of classroom management, assessment, and quality assurance

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent Higher Education/Advanced 
    qualification
  • Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
  • Relevant practical/industrial experience in animal sciences
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills 
  • Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
  • Willingness to drive a college minibus
Desirable Criteria:
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Business experience in the land based industries 
  • A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education 
  • A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment 
  • Awareness of key performance indicators
  • Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
  • Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
  • Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of 
    young people
  • Sound understanding of digital literacy
  • Willingness to contribute to develop extra-curricular activities 
Welsh Language Requirements:
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 3/4 Essential
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 3/4 Essential
