We are looking for an accomplished Clinical Negligence Lawyer to lead and develop our specialist team based in Liverpool. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a qualified solicitor or legal executive with significant post-qualification experience and a proven track record in complex clinical negligence litigation.
The role
As Principal Lawyer, you will oversee the strategic and operational performance of the Clinical Negligence team, ensuring excellence in casework, supervision, and client care. You will manage a caseload of high-value, complex claims while mentoring and supervising colleagues to uphold best practice standards.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervising and supporting team members with case progression and strategic input
• Managing your own caseload from initial interview to settlement
• Driving operational and financial performance across the team
• Providing legal advice to Trade Unions, their members, and private clients
• Supporting business development and raising the team’s profile

About you...
You will be a confident leader with deep expertise in clinical negligence law and a commitment to developing others. We are looking for:
• Extensive experience running complex clinical negligence cases, including trial, ADR, and interlocutory applications
• Strong supervisory and mentoring skills
• Proven ability to manage team performance and deliver strategic input
• Experience in billing, forecasting, and cost recovery
• Accreditation with the Law Society or AVMA (or equivalent)
• Proficiency in case management systems and legal IT tools
