The Group Reporting role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the consolidated monthly profit and loss statements across all entities within the Jersey Post Group. This includes coordinating inputs from finance teams, validating financial data, and preparing high-quality management accounts for review by the Group Financial Controller. Once approved, these reports are presented to the Chief Financial Officer and subsequently shared with the broader business to support strategic and operational decision-making.

The post holder ensures that financial performance is clearly communicated to senior leadership through well-structured reports, detailed variance analysis, and insightful commentary. Working closely with the finance team and P&L owners, they consolidate monthly results, identify key trends, and maintain consistency in reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounting and Reporting
- To be effective, the postholder must develop a deep understanding of each business area, taking ownership of specific departmental P&L responsibilities.
- Playing a central role in compiling and reviewing the Group’s monthly consolidated P&L statement, contributing to a clear and insightful narrative. This will entail working closely with other team members, identifying and explaining variances from budget and leading the reforecasting of full-year financial outcomes.
- Complete the weekly flash performance report for submission to the Group Financial Controller before publication to the broader business.
- Support the Group Financial Controller whilst analysing financial data for the Chief Financial Officer and Executives.
- Liaise with P&L owners to present their results, providing proactive, professional financial advice.
- Collaborate with departments to develop both financial and non-financial key performance indicators for weekly and monthly reports and to develop and evolve the reporting function.
- Liaise with external auditors as required.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and reduce manual intervention; contribute to the development of dynamic dashboards.
- Continuously review financial processes to improve efficiency, especially around month-end and management accounts.
- Maintain a documented financial procedures library for processes and P&Ls under remit.
- Complete regulatory returns specific to business areas as needed.
- Undertake other ad hoc financial tasks as required.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Monitor departmental budgets monthly and advise budget holders where corrective action is needed; hold monthly meetings with each P&L owner.
- Support the Group Financial Controller in the annual budget-setting process across the organisation, collaborating with the Finance Team and P&L owners to gather, evaluate, and challenge budgetary submissions. This requires a commercially astute mindset, ensuring that all departmental budgets are aligned with Jersey Post’s profitability targets. Be responsible for producing the annual consolidated budget glossy in partnership with the Group Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer, providing critical insights and recommendations.
- Review Group expenditure and recommend cost-saving opportunities to the Group Financial Officer.
Treasury
- Contribute to the segregation of duties framework within banking processes, including payment initiation, approval, and reconciliation.
Systems & Processes
- Support Finance’s contribution to the Group’s digitisation programme, championing tools such as Power BI, Dashboards, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Be the reporting systems champion for the Finance Department, by being responsible for and making sure the entire reporting process runs smoothly, accurately and delivers real value.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- At least 5 years’ experience in a commercial environment, reporting and Management accounting role.
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- An advanced proficiency in building and maintaining Power BI reporting models.
- Expertise in Microsoft products, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Ability to influence decision-making by positioning finance as a partner with practical stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly analytical and numerate, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable navigating and integrating complex financial systems and applications.
- A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, independent, and able to manage competing priorities.
