Service Applications Developer

Job Overview

The Service Applications Developer will work closely with the Service Desk Manager to plan, develop and implement necessary technical content for applications managed by IT and will be responsible for technical support through to design, code and troubleshooting of applications used by Glory IT.  Key to success in this role is a strong technical mindset, excellent skills, good knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and a degree of patience.  As a technical expert, this role is visible to senior individuals across Glory, and the Service Applications Developer must always present themselves appropriately, demonstrating a high level of professionalism. 

Key Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Analyzing needs and developing IT applications 
  • Design, test and building software to meet service needs 
  • Create models and diagrams that outline code needed to create applications 
  • Perform regular maintenance and testing on service applications 
  • Documenting processes to provide information required for upgrades and maintenance 
  • Service applications infrastructure management 
  • Formulating and implementing quality assurance (QA) methods 
  • Identify system inefficiencies and report on them 
  • Technical analysis and execution of architectural changes, integrations and new module implementations 
  • Setting IT best practice standards 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE   
  •  Degree qualified (preferred) or similar level of higher education
  • ITIL Qualification or similar (preferred)
  • Good understanding of enterprise technologies
  • Confident Programming ability using JavaScript
  • Knowledge of markup and stylish languages (HTML, XML, CSS) 
  • Web development tools and techniques (.NET, AJAX) 
  • Expertise on working in cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) such as ServiceNow 
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working in a team on a 24x7 shift basis
  • Experience working for a medium-sized enterprise business
  • Experience working in the manufacturing industry and appropriate knowledge of related business applications
