Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Process Operations Commissioning Lead provides technical and execution leadership for all process system commissioning activities. The role bridges engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure safe and efficient system turnover, readiness for start-up, and operational acceptance.

The Process Operations Commissioning Lead is directly responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing process commissioning activities (static and dynamic), validating system performance, and ensuring alignment with project design, specifications, and operational requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all process system commissioning activities, including static checks, dynamic testing, process safety validation, and performance verification.
- Ensure process systems are fully commissioned, safe, and compliant with design intent at handover to Operations.
- Direct, coach, and oversee commissioning supervisors, operators, technicians, vendors, and third-party specialists engaged in process commissioning.
- Define process commissioning resource needs (operations staff, temporary utilities, test equipment, consumables, spares) and ensure readiness ahead of execution.
- Support turnover of systems at Mechanical Completion, ensuring seamless transition to Commissioning and Start-Up.
- Develop, review, and execute process commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules (Level 3 and Level 5) for assigned areas.
- Validate system integrity prior to introduction of process fluids/energy; enforce safety protocols during live commissioning.
- Ensure process control logic, interlocks, alarms, and safeguarding systems are functionally tested and documented before start-up.
- Monitor and report progress, productivity, and performance metrics against commissioning schedules.
- Oversee completion and accuracy of process commissioning documentation, including check sheets, punch items, turnover packages, and certification.
- Support development and validation of start-up procedures, operations manuals, and acceptance testing.
- Provide leadership for safe commissioning execution, aligned with Project HSSE standards and Control of Work practices.
- Act as a key interface with Operations to ensure readiness for ramp-up and early plant performance testing.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree or technical diploma in Chemical/Process Engineering, or equivalent operational/technical background.
- 8+ years of experience in process operations and commissioning, including supervisory roles in large industrial projects with significant LNG experience (in addition to LNG experience - oil & gas, petrochemicals, power, or equivalent are also useful).
- Proven track record leading commissioning through Mechanical Completion, Start-Up, and initial operations.
- Strong understanding of process safety, control systems, and integrated commissioning practices.
- Ability to coordinate multi-discipline commissioning in a fast-paced, live-system environment.
