Job Overview

Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Veterinary Oncology Assistant to support our Oncology team. This part-time role is perfect for someone who is dedicated to exceptional patient care, thrives in a collaborative environment, and communicates with professionalism and empathy.

  • Prior veterinary experience is preferred — but we will gladly train the right candidate!
  • A team player who is organized, reliable, and eager to learn
  • Administrative experience is a plus (phone skills, scheduling, client communication

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Patient Care & Technical Support
  • Assist with oncology appointments and obtain accurate patient histories
  • Provide safe and effective restraint for exams, IV catheter placement, and chemotherapy treatments
  • Support diagnostics such as digital radiographs, bloodwork, and sample collection
Client Communication
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding patient status, treatment plans, and medication instructions
  • Call in prescriptions to outside pharmacies and assist with medication coordination
Hospital Flow & Organization
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked workstations
  • Assist with scheduling, follow-up care coordination, and general administrative needs
  • Work closely with the Oncology team to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Preferred have at least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience 
  • Must be a bright, friendly, and effective communicator in order to communicate with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and other hospital staff. (It’s okay if you talk to animals, too!)
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time 
  • Must be able to lift 50 squirming pounds
  • Must be able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases
