Shift: Rotating, 12 hour Day Shift (Yellow), 6:00 am - 6:30 pm including some weekends 
Wage: Starting at a base wage of $25.52/hr

Position Overview: The Pit Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing and assisting pit crew employees with the proper and safe execution of cleanouts, deep cleans, and any other assigned cleaning duties. 
 

Key Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions: 
  • Oversees and assists with executing proper cleaning of production equipment and areas using dry cleaning methods as outlined in Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s). 
  • Works with the pit crew and Sanitation Supervisor to ensure cleanouts and deep cleans are occurring as scheduled.  
  • Works diligently to prevent production lines from going into overdue status. 
  • Operates forklift within all areas of the facility. 
  • Coordinates and covers duties required by personnel while they are on breaks, meal periods, or PTO. 
  • Ensures quality assurance documentation is complete, legible and conforms with company SOPs, policies, and procedures. 
  • Directs hands-on employee training. Provides real-time performance-based feedback and coaching. Completes applicable training documentation. 
  • Reports performance deficiencies to Sanitation Supervisor. 
  • Monitors quality assurance during all sanitation operations. 
  • Creates a team mentality and fosters a collaborative work environment.  
  • Minimizes production downtime by identifying and implementing approved processes.  
  • Assists with the drafting and developing of SOP’s and SSOP’s. 
  • Identifies faulty equipment and notifies proper department.  
  • Trains new cleanout technicians and develops existing talent. 
  • Facilitates communication between pit crew, production teams, and supervisors. 
  • Oversees the completion of breaks and meal periods of cleanout technicians in accordance with local law and company policy. 
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner. 
  • Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).  
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to Supervisors and/or Department Manager.  
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.  
Supervisory Responsibilities: 
  • This position has limited supervisory responsibilities over Cleanout Technicians and other assigned personnel. 
  • This position reports to the Sanitation Supervisor and the Food Safety & Technical Services Manager.

  • Demonstrated experience training or willingness to undergo formal training regarding teaching and instructing others. 
  • Ability to train and coach team members. 
  • Understands lockout-tagout procedures. 
  • Effective time management skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with a team using direct communication, respect, creativity, and emotional intelligence. 
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate information in English.

  • Ability to work in an environment where exposure to potential food allergens is or may be present.  
Education and Experience: 
  • 6 or more years of sanitation, manufacturing, or industrial cleaning experience, AND 
  • Experience leading a team, AND 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; OR 
  • Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks. 
 
Preferred Skills: 
  • Ability to speak in two or more languages. 
 
Willing to Train: 
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift. 
 
Physical Demands:   
  • Good physical dexterity with the ability to climb ladders and stairs, squat, kneel, stand for long periods of time, reach overhead, and walk on uneven surfaces. 
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. 
  • Occasional lifting of weight up to 55 pounds. 
 
Work Environment:  
  • The work environment is primarily production and warehouse settings. 
  • Use of personal protective equipment such as helmets, ear plugs, hairnets, safety glasses, and bump caps are mandatory, and use of non-slip shoes is recommended.  
  • Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
