About the role

As the Head of Sector – C&I in the Recycle loop, you will take ownership of driving growth, customer retention, and strategic development across our key brands within our Construction & Infrastructure sector. Acting as the senior sector lead, this role will be responsible for shaping sector strategy, developing high-value customer relationships, and ensuring the delivery of innovative and sustainable solutions that differentiate the business in the market.

This position is suited to a commercially driven leader with proven experience in customer growth, contract retention, and market positioning in waste management or related industries.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Commercial Leadership
  • Develop and execute the sector growth strategy, aligned to business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Align closely with the Corporate Business Development team to win new business and drive growth within the sector. To include but not limited to collaboration on new business tenders and supporting on new business presentations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance customer value through innovation, service differentiation, and sustainability-led solutions.
  • Analyse sector trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to shape commercial positioning.
  • Take P&L responsibility for the sector, with a focus on profitable growth and margin improvement.
Client Growth & Retention
  • Act as the senior point of contact for key sector customers, building trusted long-term relationships.
  • Drive customer satisfaction and retention through proactive engagement and strategic account management.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure customer expectations are exceeded and contracts deliver value.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop a sector marketing plan, including but not limited to tailored sector propositions and service models to attract and retain customers.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Inspire and lead a sector-focused Account Management team.
  • Foster collaboration across business units (customer services, operations, marketing, sustainability, finance) to deliver sector objectives.
  • Promote a culture of customer focus, innovation, and accountability across the sector.
External Engagement
  • Represent the company at industry forums, trade associations, and customer events.
  • Champion the organisation’s brand as a thought leader and spokesperson in sustainable waste management and circular economy solutions within your sector.
  • Build networks with regulators, partners, and stakeholders to enhance sector influence and visibility.

What we need from you

  • Senior leadership experience in waste management, environmental services, or within the construction industry is highly desirable though not essential for the right candidate. 
  • Strong commercial track record in business growth, contract retention, and customer relationship management.
  • Excellent understanding of waste sector dynamics, customer needs, and emerging sustainability trends.
  • Proven ability to manage P&L, budgets, and growth targets.
  • Outstanding communication, influencing, and negotiation skills at senior stakeholder level.
  • Confident and engaging public speaker with strong presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance commercial priorities with long-term sustainability goals.
  • Full UK Driving Licence. 
Location: Flexible within the UK; travel will be part of the role.
