Job Overview

We are looking to recruit 2 positions:
1 x South Buckinghamshire or Berkshire
– Full-time, Permanent
1 x South Oxfordshire – Full-time, Fixed Term.  (12 months)

Are you passionate about improving opportunities for young people and supporting organisations to deliver high‑quality programmes? The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is looking for two motivated and proactive Operations Officers to join our England Operations Team.

As an Operations Officer, you will manage a portfolio of Licensed Organisations, supporting them to deliver high‑quality DofE programmes and contributing to the delivery of the DofE’s England business plan and long‑term strategy.

You’ll report to an Operations Manager and work closely with colleagues across England and the wider UK, helping to shape and strengthen the reach of our life‑changing programmes.

These field‑based roles are ideal for someone who thrives on building strong partnerships, managing a varied workload, and making a meaningful impact across schools, colleges, local authorities, charities, youth groups and more. While you won’t work directly with young people, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our Licensed Organisations (LOs) deliver excellent DofE programmes—especially for those from underrepresented backgrounds.

You’ll work from home when not attending meetings or events, but it’s essential that you live within or close to your allocated portfolio area.

You will be responsible for:
  • Support and develop Licensed Organisations to deliver high‑quality DofE programmes.
  • Provide training, guidance and regular contact for LO staff.
  • Create action plans, conduct reviews and monitor progress using online tools.
  • Increase participation among underrepresented young people.
  • Attend meetings and events (some early mornings/evenings; occasional weekends).
  • Contribute to licensing, grant applications and project reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across England and the UK.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to influence, support and challenge stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationship‑building and communication skills.
  • Data‑literate with good analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and a great team player.
