The Role
As a Rail Engineering Consultant, you will bring a solid engineering background with experience in rail infrastructure, positioning technologies, or digital rail systems. You will have a strong understanding of Network Rail’s Product Acceptance (PA) process and broader assurance frameworks used by major clients and principal contractors. The role requires robust systems engineering capability, including interpreting complex technical requirements, integrating multi-disciplinary sensing and localisation solutions, and applying rigorous validation, verification, and assurance processes.
You will work closely with suppliers, technology partners, and internal engineering teams, engaging confidently in technical discussions, supporting system integration and onboarding activities, and monitoring progress against engineering deliverables. You will also contribute to project delivery by tracking technical milestones, identifying and reporting risks, and ensuring solutions remain aligned with project and strategic objectives.
Strong communication skills are essential for producing clear technical documentation, test evidence, and assurance records. Adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset will enable you to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment working with the latest[PZ1] technologies.
