Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to small animal patients
- Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Support surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery (surgical experience is a plus)
- Perform laboratory testing, radiographs, and medication administration
- Educate and communicate with clients on patient care and treatment plans
- Take initiative to support daily workflow and patient advocacy
- Serve as a leadership presence on the floor, supporting assistants and fellow technicians
- Maintain accurate medical records and uphold hospital standards
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- High school diploma or GED required; Veterinary Technician experience in a general practice setting strongly preferred (at least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience preferred)
- Bright, friendly, and effective communicator with clients, veterinarians, visitors, and hospital staff (it’s okay if you talk to animals, too!)
- Demonstrated leadership ability or interest in growing into a leadership role
- Surgical and anesthesia experience a plus, but not required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including squirming patients
- Comfortable working in a veterinary environment with potential exposure to infectious or contagious diseases
- Registered Veterinary Technician preferred but not required
