The Industry Relations Advisor is responsible for driving the adoption of GS1 Canada Standards and Industry Managed Solutions (IMS) within their assigned Tier 2 Data Provider accounts. This role plays a vital part in achieving widespread adoption of IMS to meet the needs of both Data Providers and Data Recipients.
The Advisor works closely with subscribers in their portfolio, building relationships and providing guidance to support the implementation of IMS aligned with the requirements of their trading partners. By doing so, they help ensure data integrity and alignment across the supply chain.
Success in this role is measured by key performance indicators such as cost recovery, subscriber engagement, service adoption, retention, campaign effectiveness, and timely CRM updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information for all Tier 2 subscribers.
- Proactively engage target Data Providers to communicate the value, features, and benefits of GS1 Canada’s Industry Managed Solutions (IMS).
- Promote, convert, and support the implementation of IMS to ensure alignment with Trading Partner requirements.
- Collaborate across departments to support the achievement of multi-sector board objectives.
- Drive adoption of both existing and new IMS—including but not limited to: New Item Introduction, Marketing Content, eCommerce Content, Nutritional Content, Pharmaceutical Content, Shelf Management Content, Enhanced Assets, and Product Recall—by leveraging knowledge of business processes and service offerings to align with project goals and industry needs.
- Educate subscribers on GS1 Canada standards and IMS offerings, including their value, pricing, and interdependencies; address objections to support cost recovery targets.
- Use tools such as Power BI to identify opportunities, track progress, and support IMS adoption and cost recovery.
- Retain and renew IMS subscriptions across assigned Tier 2 subscribers.
- Gather subscriber feedback on potential service improvements and share insights with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor the IMS implementation process, address content gaps, and ensure subscribers remain financially compliant.
- Represent GS1 Canada at industry trade shows (approx. 5% of time).
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Completion of a recognized college diploma in a related field is preferred (e.g., Business, Retail Commerce, Supply Chain Management).
- Minimum of 2–3 years of work experience, ideally in a customer service and/or administrative role within the supply chain industry.
- Familiarity with GS1 Canada, barcoding standards, GTIN Allocation Rules (Global Trade Identification Number), and the ECCnet Registry is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated proven high level of proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint;
- Technical proficiency in tools such as Power BI and CRM software is considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to set priorities and manage many projects simultaneously;
- Preference given to candidates with Bilingual (French/English) language skills.
- Proficient in problem-solving and critical thinking, with the ability to analyze complex situations and an aptitude for process management;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
