Key Responsibilities
- Help shape and develop our Regulatory strategy in India to ensure that it is aligned to Marketing long term NPD strategy.
- Work in cross-functional teams, providing regulatory expertise and leadership to the business.
- Proactively identify potential regulatory issues on products or industry topics and independently take lead on internal communication and strategy development.
- Continue to build and develop our expertise in the area of Health & Wellbeing claims by:
- Supports and aligns the Global Regulatory community.
- Ensure full compliance with food labelling and product composition laws and regulations in India, including applicable Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Regulations, keeping stakeholders up to date to enable them to embed and implement regulatory obligations effectively.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain documentation for product registrations, licences, renewals, and regulatory approvals with Indian authorities and the Tea Board of India, specifically:
- FSSAI product license and registration (lead by regulatory team and delivered in conjunction with Quality team).
- Tea Board of India Registration (lead by regulatory team and delivered in conjunction with Quality team).
- Darjeeling CTM license and application of logo on packaging (lead by regulatory team and delivered in conjunction with Quality team).
- Assam Logo License and application of logo on packaging (lead by regulatory team and delivered in conjunction with Quality team).
- Flavour License (lead by regulatory team and delivered in conjunction with Quality team).
- Act as the primary liaison with statutory bodies including FSSAI, Tea Board of India and other regulatory agencies on matters relating to product composition and food labelling and claims.
- Build internal regulatory capability by training stakeholders and delivering workshops on regulatory updates.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven track record in regulatory affairs in the food and beverage industry, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal education in food science or other scientific subject, technical or legal discipline.
- High level knowledge of Indian food legislation and end of life packaging claim requirements.
- Proven ability in providing risk based regulatory advice to commercial teams particularly in relation to general labelling and nutrition, health and other marketing claims.
- Experience assessing impact of new legislation and successful implementation within a business Ability to translate complex technical and legislative issues clearly to a varied audience.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo in pursuit of finding solutions and unlocking opportunity Experience of working with senior leadership teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-changing environment & good at dealing with ambiguity Excellent relationship building skills and proven stakeholder management skills.
- Strong project management, presentation, facilitation and communication skills.
