We are seeking a quality inspector to join an experienced manufacturing team that provides parts and components that require a high level of accuracy to external customers and our busy production, maintenance, repair, and overhaul teams internally.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all stage inspections are completed in a timely manner, in line with schedule and that the quality of the work is in accordance with the relevant approved data and company procedures.
- Completing final inspection of finished parts ensuring they are compliant with the approved data and any production permits or concessions are correctly referenced.
- Ability to release parts with a CAA Form 1.
- Liaising with the Production Supervisors to ensure tasks are prioritised and completed in accordance with the agreed production program plan.
- Monitoring Chemical and Heat treatment processes to ensure they are being maintained and are complaint with the prescribed limits.
- Completing and documenting dimensional inspection reports for First Article Inspection Reports. Where appropriate using the CMM to inspect and generate the reports.
- Ensuring all non-compliant parts are reported and quarantined in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensuring all matters relating to safety and specifically airworthiness are reported promptly in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensuring all tools, jigs, fixtures, and measurement devices used in the production and inspection process are calibrated in accordance with company procedures. Maintaining the register of calibrated tools.
- Ensuring any work, they carry out is within the scope of their approvals granted by the Quality department.
- Provide training and mentoring to apprentices and other team members, as required by the Company, and ensure that high standards and guidance is always offered to all team members.
- Perform tensile testing and test piece testing as required.
- Ensure that received goods are inspected and located to stock in a timely manner, liaising with suppliers in the event of incomplete/incorrect paperwork or parts to resolution.
- Obtaining quotes for the calibration of existing tools, and the purchasing of new tools. Raising purchase requests.
- Reporting of concession or deviation requests to design by the Design Query form.
- Maintain internal approvals for processes within your remit.
- Carry out regular internal audits to ensure production processes and procedures are being followed.
- Report any safety/airworthiness concerns via the company procedure.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum of 5 years of similar experience in a manufacturing environment
- understanding of ISO 9000 regulations
- Experience in aircraft component manufacturing
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Have a detailed knowledge in all aspects of quality inspection
- Have a good understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Proactive with a strong attention to detail
