This role is ideal for a senior-level water/wastewater engineer who brings deep technical design expertise and is ready to step into a leadership position while remaining actively involved in project execution. 

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

  • Lead the planning and design of municipal water and wastewater projects, including water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump stations, storage facilities, and treatment infrastructure.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead, providing engineering judgment, design oversight, and quality control throughout project delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering calculations, plans, specifications, technical memoranda, and reports.
  • Mentor and support engineers and designers by providing technical guidance, design review, and best-practice direction.
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, and regulatory agencies to support permitting, design approvals, and successful project execution.
  • Review and seal engineering documents in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Kentucky PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in water and wastewater engineering with an emphasis on design.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior designer or technical lead on municipal water and wastewater projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry design standards, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with team mentorship and technical leadership responsibilities.
