Job Overview

The Fleet Management Apprentice is a role within the engineering organisation responsible for both maintenance and production planning to maximise the operational  capability of both the DEA fleet and our third party customers aircraft. The role assists with the coordination of maintenance planning  activities in conjunction with the flight operations team, maintenance service providers, DEA spares  purchasing, external customers and DEA project office. In addition, the role will be involved in the development of optimum maintenance strategies which balance internal and external capacities at various  operational locations. The role ensures that all maintenance requirements are complied with  in accordance with approved aircraft maintenance programs, regulatory requirements as well as  DEA company requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Working alongside the engineering team ensuring maintenance activities for fleet and  3rd party customers are carried out in line with planned timescales and costs

  • Creates, maintains, and publishes the long-term maintenance plan (0 to 12 months)  that meets operational needs while maximizing yield, reducing costs, and providing  maximum aircraft availability. 

  • Plans and schedules both short- and long-term maintenance requirements, time limited component changes and initiates corrective actions for AOG’s or regulatory  AD’s / replacements. 

  • Develops work packages for designated Maintenance service providers, considering  requirements such as maintenance skills, tools, materials, available man-hours, and  ground time. 

  • Acts as a point of contact for coordination with designated maintenance  service providers to ensure aircraft requiring maintenance tasks are properly planned  for and delivered. 

  • Monitors inspection interval utilisation, communicates and resolves potential  scheduling with DEA operations teams, provides feedback on fleet compliance and  inspection programs. 

  • Develops optimum DEA maintenance strategies balancing internal and external  resources and costs. 

  • Develops and implements continuous improvement to the DEA maintenance  programme 

  • Acts as point of contact with DEA operations and all customers in regards to updating  maintenance progress, any changes to timescales, issues encountered and any  large changes in costings in contrast to agreements and plans. 

  • Any other duties determined related to your role as directed by your line manager.
