We are looking for an enthusiastic Co-op student to work as a Human Resources Assistant Co-op in our Guelph office, to aid the Talent Acquisition and Compensation & Benefits teams. This contract position is available from May to August of 2026. We will also consider applicants who are available for an 8-month placement. 

Key Responsibilities

The Role Includes, but is Not Limited to:

Recruitment
  • Assisting with full-cycle recruitment process/activities. 
  • Representing RWDI at job fairs and other recruitment events to engage with potential candidates and promote the organization. 
  • Collaborating with the recruitment team to enhance our employer brand with local schools. 
  • Conducting phone screens, reference checks, and background checks. 
  • Scheduling meetings and interviews as requested by the Talent Acquisition team. 
  • Marinating up-to-date tracking of candidate status and progress throughout the hiring process, ensuring timely and professional communication at each stage, including closure. 
  • Drafting employment offers. 
Compensation & Benefits 
  • Supporting Canadian, US, and UK benefits administration by handling enrollments, changes, claims, etc. 
  • Acting as the first point of contact to address employee inquiries regarding their benefits in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner, resolving issues or escalating them to providers as appropriate.  
  • Processing retirement plan transactions for the USA and UK, including enrollment, contributions and terminations. 
  • Assisting with Expatriate and Travel programs, ensuring plans are up to date and plan members' expectations regarding coverage and travel impact are communicated. 
  • Auditing benefits vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and forwarding to Accounts Payable for processing. 
  • Contributing to the planning, development and delivery of educational programs to promote wellness initiatives, benefits and retirement programs. Supporting other benefits and wellness related projects and tasks as required on an ad hoc basis. 
  • Performing other administrative duties as requested/assigned.  

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Completed or currently pursuing post-secondary education in Business, Human Resources, or a relevant field. 
  • Strong presentation skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication. 
  • High ethical standards with a strong commitment to confidentiality and employee privacy. 
  • Approaches situations with political/cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to respect and inclusion. 
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently. 
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of work. 
  • Able to manage time effectively, remaining calm under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
