By revealing the human side of healthcare, we’re making it more personal, precise, and effective - for everyone.

Role Summary:

We are hiring an experienced Research Associate. Your mission is to help build Surgo’s foundational behavioral data in the US by being deeply committed to the quality of our data. We work with large-scale survey data from many different sources. The accuracy of these data and its associated metadata is critical to the success of our data products. You have experience processing survey data, you are detail-oriented, and are eager to move fast as part of a high-performing team. As you gain experience, there are many opportunities for growth and increased ownership.

What you’ll achieve:

  • Own the end-to-end quality of Surgo’s survey data, from raw inputs to analysis-ready datasets.
  • Ensure preprocessing, coding, and transformations are accurate, consistent, and reproducible.
  • Ensure metadata is complete, accurate, and trusted by downstream users.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues before they impact analyses or products.
  • Establish scalable data quality checks and standards as our survey footprint grows.
  • Identify ways to streamline processing, including experimenting with AI tools.
  • Enable faster, more confident research by making data quality a solved problem.

About you:

  • Masters degree or higher  in a relevant domain (e.g. psychology, economics, social science, healthcare, epidemiology).
  • Understand the fundamentals of survey design and survey statistics.
  • Experience working with survey data, cleaning messy data sets, creating variables, and handling metadata.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong instinct for data quality issues.
  • Comfortable working with complex, imperfect, real-world datasets.
  • Basic analytical skills (Python preferred)
  • Able to balance speed and rigor in a fast-moving environment - we are a startup so we need you to be flexible and fast.
  • Strong command of English to enable good internal communication and metadata accuracy
  • Clear and proactive communicator who documents decisions and flags risks early.
Location: This role is based out of India, with a preference for New Delhi or Mumbai. Some travel may be required for on-sites.
