About the role:
The Operations Manager at Sun King will perform a variety of duties that basically revolves around the overall supply chain functions [Imports, Exports, Procurement, Warehousing (inbound/outbound), Inventory Management, Last Mile Distribution] and Team Management. They will own all Operations KPIs to ensure the company's overall goals are met.
What you will be expected to do:
- Team management:
- Driving professional growth within the team, mentoring/coaching people to develop valuable skill sets, assess teams’ training needs and facilitate/arrange training as needed and driving development and continuous improvement within the operations team.
- Driving operational efficiency through meeting KPIs including inventory turnover rates, zero stock outs, inventory accuracy, procurement TATs, imports clearance and ensuring transportation/warehousing/procurement and departmental costs are within budget.
- Inventory planning:
- Monitoring the inventory needs and coordinating with the sales team and escalating to relevant teams as needed in order to meet business needs and timelines.
- Inventory management:
- Overseeing inventory management to ensure optimized inventory levels and safekeeping of stock, lean stock keeping in risk areas out of central warehouse, inventory audits both at central/retail stock points.
- Last mile distribution process management:
- Working with operations team as well as cross functional departments to design and implement efficient processes for the last mile distribution of our Easy Buy Direct business;
- Overseeing the process of product removals and completeness of reverse logistics kits.
- Operational Risk Management:
- Identifying key operational risks and implementing formal root cause and corrective action programs.
- Systems and process design:
- Coordinating with technology teams to ensure company systems including applications meet Operational needs.
- Driving operations’ process documentation/measurement/ improvements.
- Monitoring of trade regulations:
- Closely monitoring any changes in tax / duty and escalating accordingly.
- Partnership Management:
- Liaising with operations team customers’ (internal and external) to ensure delivery needs are met on time and accurately.
- Maintaining a procurement policy for use in-country.
- Any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
You might be a strong candidate if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transport and Distribution, Procurement and Logistics or Business administration. A master's degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, with at least 5 years in warehouse, team management & logistics/distribution at a senior level.
- Must demonstrate previous management experience, with ability to drive professionals and guide their career development.
- Proven ability to work with distributors, 3PLs and sales teams to ensure smooth distribution operations as well as ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the relevant legislation pertaining to the region.
- Is knowledgeable about inventory management, transport routes, warehousing and distribution networks.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in both English and Portuguese.
- Ability to work remotely under minimal supervision.
- Is highly meticulous with high degree of knowledge in ERP, Excel/Google Sheets, and other review tools.
- Has experience in business planning, procurement, warehouse, retail management and fleet management.
- Demonstrates humility, value oriented and is passionate about working with rural, off-grid consumers and resolving their issues.
- Is oriented by the social mission to provide energy to consumers and employment to rural communities.
- Very good social / partnership skills; able to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, members and external partners.
