We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Service Assistant to join our Catering Team at Cadbury College on a part-time, term-time-only basis. The role offers hours from 10.15am to 2.15pm and is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, while taking pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming food service environment. You will report directly to the Chef Manager.
You will support the day-to-day operation of the catering service, assisting with food preparation, service delivery, cleaning and hospitality events, while ensuring high standards of food hygiene, health and safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will;
- Assist with the basic preparation of food and refreshments, including deli preparation, baking and hot food service
- Support the setup and preparation of dining and service areas
- Serve meals and refreshments in line with college requirements and guidelines
- Operate cash tills and undertake cashier duties in accordance with college procedures
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, dining areas and associated catering spaces
- Assist with washing-up and general daily kitchen cleaning duties
- Support college hospitality functions, open events and special events as required
- Supervise students in dining areas during lunch periods as required
- Adhere to all food hygiene, health and safety and food safety management systems
- Maintain agreed standards of dress and appearance
- Attend training and development activities relevant to the role
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, food hygiene and health & safety practices
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, flexible and able to follow procedures consistently
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation
